Personal Campbell Hausfeld Compressor Reviews:

From Fred R – Lake Orion, USA

My unit was just delivered several days ago. I purchased it to replace an aging Sears 2 HP compressor, which had mysteriously turned itself on during the night (even though the switch was Off!) and kept running, overheating and filling my home with oily smoke.
The buying and receiving experience was terrific. I got the free shipping, and was expecting this would take 2-3 weeks on the slow train. I was surprised to get a call from the freight company two days after I ordered it, asking when I wanted it delivered. It arrived in perfect condition.
True to market hype, the 6.5 HP rating advertised is actually an overstatement. The label on the unit says it is a 3.2 HP, and that makes sense given the current draw. A true 6.5 HP unit would require a 30-50A circuit, like my Delta 5HP Unisaw. But this unit meets my needs at a good price.
Campbell Hausfeld makes this identical unit for a lot of other manufacturers… you’ll notice different paint colors, but it’s the same unit. Surprisingly, some other manufacturers charge more… as far as I can tell only the paint color and brand sticker is different. Buy this one and save yourself some money.
A downside over some of the cheaper units is that you’ll need to provide your own electrical cord, air regulator and plumbing from the tank. I purchased Campbell Hausfeld’s vertical compressor mount kit direct from their website for about $11. It comes with rubber and metal plates, as well as lag screws and lag shields to safely mount the unit to the floor. I’ve also purchased a flexible pipe to make the connection from the compressor tank (after a ball shutoff valve) to the rest of the plumbing in my system.
The cast iron compressor pump is definitely quieter than my old aluminum one was. The unit operates very smoothly and relatively quietly for a compressor, but it’s still noisy.

Review From R A Anderson – Minnesota, USA

I needed to upgrade my shop air compressor and had narrowed my choices to Ingersoll Rand and a Campbell Hausfeld Compressor. I researched the various internet sites and to my surprise Amazon.com sells air compressors and had an incredible deal on the Campbell Hausfeld VT6275 60 Gallon. The deal included free shipping; this was true free shipping all the way into my shop. Great quality compressor at a great price and a very smooth transaction.

Review By D. Cloud:  Grand Haven, United States

I was sick of wasting money on canned air so I bought this 2 Gallon Mini Twin-Stack Campbell Hausfeld Compressor. A lot of my friends thought I was crazy, but if you consider the sums….a can of air these days costs around $6 and I use at least one of these a week. If you multiply this by 52 weeks you have $312. Hence in approx five months time this compressor will have paid for itself.

Also as a bonus the included nail/stapler gun does a fantastic job. Just keep in mind that the gun which comes with this compressor is a simple brad nailer fit for doing jobs such as hanging thin sheets of paneling. The step up from that would be a finish nailer, which you would use for nailing molding. The step above that would be a framing nailer and those are usually 3 ¼-inch nails for framing. For the finish and framing nailer you would need a much larger compressor to operate efficiently. This compressor is most suited for small jobs. As an example, it excelled at inflating my dad’s car tires and my brother’s bike tires (set at 60 PSI) and the compressor only kicked on once or twice. However, when using it to blow air (set at 85 PSI) it only lasts about thirty seconds or so, then I have to wait about five minutes for it to fill back up. This does not bother me for like I said one can of air is about $6 and so waiting for five minutes for the tank to refill with free air is not a big deal.

Something else you should think about if you’re considering purchasing this compressor is to make sure you buy some extra fittings (and a roll of Teflon tape for wrapping the threads). The compressor comes with a few extras, but they’re nothing to get excited about. For instance with the included inflation nozzle I added a 1/4″ male coupler connector and a quick connector on one end of the hose so I can snap it on and off easily. You will also need to buy a blow gun (Campbell Hausfeld MP520010AV 25-Piece Accessory Kit with Case) and it’s a good idea to have a moisture filter to prevent water in the line (Campbell Hausfeld G6261 Water Filter). I bought a CH filter and installed it on the air outlet on the tank (using a 3/8″ x 3/8″ male coupling) and then hooked my hose to the other end. You can use quick couplings to make life easier for yourself, that way you can interchange hoses and tools in a snap.

All in all I am very happy with this purchase. The compressor runs smoothly. It’s good looking, it’s not very loud and it has paid for itself. What more can you ask?

Campbell Hausfeld Compressor Review By Andrew Barber:  New England

I purchased this campbell hausfeld compressor so I could do trim work around the house without trying to route a hose from my 33 gallon compressor in the basement. This is a *light* duty compressor. As long as you don’t expect more, you should be happy with it. The nailer worked fine for me, although I needed to some nailing with longer nails. I hooked up my porter-cable finish nailer and it worked fine. I don’t get a lot of shots out that nailer before the compressor kicks on, but I didn’t find the wait for the compressor to charge back up to be bothersome.

I haven’t tried anything so far except my two nailers. The small size and weight is great for small jobs around the house (like putting up trim). My unit seems to be free from defects. Make sure you tighten the coupling in the nail gun, my was loose and leaky when I got it.
